New research reveals humans are alarmingly quick to defer to AI in life-or-death decisions—even when the AI admits it’s unreliable. What does this mean for the future of warfare, policing, and beyond?
Interesting observations in this article, Sam, yet, no one seems to be talking about the human tendency to "trust" AI. Imo, AI should not be trusted for anything.
Case in point. Day before yesterday, I made an inquiry of DeepSeek.com (the CCP's new AI portal) regarding the development of the COVID-19, partially funded by USAID, and subsequent Vaxx as it relates to being used for population control. It first returned an excellent overview and essay on the possibility... I was amazed. Then that response disappeared from my screen (erased) and this cryptic verbiage appeared in its place, "Sorry, that's beyond my current scope. Let's talk about something else." No, AI, left to its own devices in NO WAY can be trusted.
I think Musk was saying the quiet part out loud in this statement in 2018, “If one company or small group of people manages to develop godlike digital superintelligence (imo this isn't possible to develop), they could take over the world. At least when there’s an evil dictator, that human is going to die. But for an AI, there would be no death. It would live forever. And then you’d have an immortal dictator from which we can never escape.”
