I've been "Missing In Action" for a couple of days; here's why:

An update from your Editor/Curator about what's been going on...

Dear Readers-

Sorry to have been out of touch for a couple of days; it was “involuntary.”

This past Thursday, around noon, the Substack platform I use for this newsletter took me “off the air” for an unspecified violation of Community Standards.

Of course, I immediately complained, only through email, that I’d been blocked improperly.

My writer’s dashboard was prevented from creating new postings AND worse, my subscriber list was blocked and grayed out so I couldn’t even see it or access it.

[Shades of “Big Brother.”]

I was very pissed, needless to say.

What in the hell is a “Violation of Community Standards?”

That’s a catch-basin indictment WITHOUT ANY SPECIFICITY.

How can one respond intelligently to that charge without any exact feedback?

In any event, yesterday afternoon, I received this email response to my complaint.

Please check this website’s functionality from your end, i.e, click on links, scrub back through past posts to see if they are still available if you click on them, and please forward a couple of articles to yourself or friends to make sure everything is working correctly. And then let me know.

Moving forward, I’ve had a couple of readers give recent feedback that I’m sending TOO many updates each day… they can’t get to them.

I typically send out 5-8 separate news item updates separately every day.

As you can see, they’re sent individually, with very clear headlines, subheads, and a photo so you can determine if they are of interest and click through, if appropriate.

Alternatively, I am willing to send out a single newsletter update (normally one per day) which will then contain multiple stories and multiple links inside a single email, however, the headline will be more challenging to create to cover multiple topics.

Note: There are simply too many critical “alternative news” pieces each day for me to pick only one to focus on, ergo the multiple individual updates or the need to include multiple story links in a single daily email.

I want to be responsive to your needs.

Kindly give me some feedback as to what articles you’d like to see and how you’d like them sent to you:

1. continuing as individual email updates with a clear single topic and headline

   OR

2. “mashed-up” as a single daily email with multiple stories and links in a single outbound alert.
