“Voluntarism” - Original artwork by Sam Kephart using prompts with OpenArt.ai
I’d like to acknowledge reader Paul B. for his conversation with me last evening on this topic; it triggered my writing this editorial.
FYI, it ties into the theme of this newsletter perfectly BECAUSE the entire goddam COVID-19 “vaccine” scheme involved force and fraud… sure as hell NOT fully-informed volitional choice.
Wake-up, y’all!
Voluntarism Versus Force and Fraud in Society: A High-Level Overview
Introduction
Society traditionally mandates conformity to its rules and regulations, often enforcing consequences for noncompliance. While this structure reliably brings order and uniformity, it inevitably and involuntarily subjugates/negates the will and individuality of people.
In response to these pressures, a philosophical system has emerged known as “voluntarism” (aka voluntaryism), or the principle of volitional engagement.
Voluntarism promotes a society based on full consent and voluntary actions as opposed to force or fraud, thereby championing individual freedom and personal choice.
Here’s a high-level overview of voluntarism… and its contrast to the force and fraud of a cram-down (elite top down) society.
Voluntarism: A Closer Look
Voluntarism predicates itself on the principle that all human interaction should be voluntary, i.e., it should comprise no force or coercion.
Promoting social and economic relationships based on free will and mutual consent, voluntarists believe such a society would foster increased human dignity and respect for individual autonomy.
In a voluntarist society, individuals can choose to belong to any communal or social organization, provided this choice is made freely and without compulsion. Businesses, services, and transactions are then guided by the consensual agreements between involved parties, thereby creating an entirely voluntary economy.
Living in a Voluntarist versus Cram-Down Society
Our present American mainstream society most frequently operates on the cram-down model where rules and regulations are forced, from the top down, upon individuals regardless of their consent. Governments use regulatory and punitive measures to ensure conformity, leading to the involuntary participation of citizens in many societal aspects.
In such societies, force and/or fraud are commonly employed mechanisms to ensure compliance.
Force can manifest in several ways, including the threat of physical violence, legal retribution, or social ostracization.
On the other hand, fraud might entail misinformation, theft, or manipulation intended to subvert an individual's ability to make fully-informed choices.
A perfect example of this has been the roll-out of the so-called COVID-19 “vaccine.” ALL of the above techniques were employed on a massive scale to get folks to comply… and take “the jab.”
These perpetrative mechanisms can and do inflict a heavy and distinct harm on individuals and society as a whole. They often lead to resentment, disillusionment, and apathy about societal functions.
In contrast, a voluntaryist society based on free will and mutual consent could potentially eliminate these issues, allowing for more harmonious and mutually beneficial human relationships.
Voluntarism, Freedom, and Personal Responsibility
Voluntarism puts immense value on freedom: the freedom to choose, to associate, and to transact. However, this freedom is not without boundaries. It is constrained by the equivalent freedoms of others - your freedom should not impinge on another's. This presumptive and underlying fundamental caveat instills a strong sense of responsibility amongst individuals, leading to a more ethically-grounded society.
For instance, while the absence of a centralized state in a voluntary society may seem to create a power vacuum, the responsibility to maintain societal harmony and protect individuals' rights would fall upon the community and its constituent individuals. Such a system could engender more accountability and community spirit.
Summary
While critics will argue a fully voluntary society is unrealistic – that it may fall into chaos due to the lack of central authority – voluntarists believe otherwise. They claim that voluntarism, where every action stems from individual consent, would promote understanding, cooperation, and mutual respect, creating a more harmonious society.
Comparatively, a cram-down society that employs force or fraud to obtain compliance almost always, without fail, causes discontent and conflict.
In essence, voluntarism challenges us to reconsider our current societal constructs and instead envision a society where volitional engagement is the norm, and force or fraud is the exception.
Whether this vision can be achieved remains to be seen, however, its contemplation gives us food for thought regarding the nature of our societal interactions and our roles within them.
Making it real…
Dr. Andrew J. Galambos and the Free Enterprise Institute: Pioneering Volitional Science and Moral Capitalism
Dr. Andrew J. Galambos, an eminent astrophysicist turned intellectual revolutionary, transformed the understanding and application of economics and societal philosophy through his ground-breaking work in Volitional Science.
A true genius and visionary, Galambos utilized his scientific acumen (and method) to propose a revolutionary societal structure, grounded in the principles known as “moral capitalism.”
Galambos was a unique intellectual blend… combining a profound knowledge of the physical sciences (and its history) with an intuitive understanding of social dynamics.
Galambos founded the Free Enterprise Institute in 1961, intending to use an academic platform to re-frame traditional economic concepts and foster a more voluntary society.
The Institute underscored the emphasis on moral capitalism, a term Galambos coined to denote an economic system promoting assent, not extortion, as the driving force for resource allocation and wealth creation.
Galambos’s courses on Volitional Science emerged as the cornerstone of the Free Enterprise Institute’s curriculum.
Imploring his students to view society through a different lens, Galambos sought to demonstrate the possibilities of a world devoid of coercion and compelled compliance. Where individuals voluntarily engage and interact, leading to the natural progression of societal systems toward increased prosperity, justice, peace, and freedom.
This foundational concept was delivered through a series of well-received courses that incorporated diverse subjects such as Physics, Capitalism, Life Insurance, and Intellectual Property.
Galambos’ lectures were not merely academic exercises, but mind-expanding systems of thought that challenged students to fully examine the societal architecture in which they lived.
Galambos’ profound impact extends beyond the realm of theory, notably through his protege, Jay Snelson. Snelson was not only an ardent student of Galambos’ philosophy but also possessed a unique ability to distill and disseminate these complex ideas to a wider audience, carrying forward Galambos’ impactful legacy.
Snelson built on Galambos’ principles, broadening their reach and continuity, thereby ensuring that Volitional Science and moral capitalism remained at the forefront of modern economic and societal discourse.
Snelson, after getting captivated by Galambos's "Capitalism, The Key to Survival" lecture, decided to disseminate his teachings, appreciating their monumental potential to shape society.
Through various courses like the “Science of Human Interaction,” Snelson continued Galambos' work, exploring the mechanics of human relationships, the essence of power, and the societal implications of different human interactions.
Thus, the profound effect of the interplay between Galambos and Snelson created a paradigm shift on societal perceptions, paving the way for Volitional Science to proffer viable alternatives to societal constructs.
Galambos, through his Free Enterprise Institute, and Snelson, as his teaching torchbearer until February 1978, perpetuated a grand narrative of how a society based on consent and voluntary exchanges can foster prosperity, justice, and human dignity.
Editor’s Note: I was very fortunate as a young man (circa 1974 thru 1978) to have taken several courses as a paid student of the aforementioned Free Enterprise Institute (FEI), which was based in Los Angeles. I was residing in San Diego at that time.
The Free Enterprise Institute’s lectures truly contained mind-expanding, provocative, and realistic ideas about creating economic and societal interaction methods that could overtake and eventually supplant our current governmental and corporate structures which are principally based on force and fraud (domination).
During the course of my studies over several years, I got to meet and briefly interact with both Dr. Galambos and Jay Snelson on several occasions.
I’m very grateful for being introduced to the FEI concepts by Nancy Lange, a woman I was dating at the time; Nancy should be acknowledged for making a significant impact in my emerging worldview.
Nancy’s father, Matt Lange, was, at the time, the FEI course contractor in San Diego… and he also handled certain business affairs for Dr. Galambos and FEI.
Due to my relationship with Nancy, I got to spend time socially with both Matt Lange and his wife Bonnie who were both highly-versed in the FEI philosophy and occasionally entertained Jay Snelson and his then girlfriend, Tami Jefferson. As a result, I got a much deeper contextual view of FEI’s courses, volitional science, and its practical applications to business structures.
