Last evening, I attended Christmas Eve services at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Anaconda, Montana. (I’m visiting my brother who lives in the neighboring Butte.)

During the sermon, the question came up about how each of us can be a light for others in very dark times…

This newsletter is designed to keep you informed of some of the major issues of our day; sadly, most of them are huge, very dark, and beyond our immediate control.

However, there are daily needs ALL AROUND US.

A kind word of encouragement here, a smile or a hug there.

Just being a good listener to someone else for a bit.

Being generous, even if we have limited means.

Maybe buying a tank of gas for someone down on their luck.

Maybe dropping off a bag of groceries for someone who’s short this month.

Or maybe giving some money to a single parent who needs clothing or a toy for their child.

Perhaps visiting someone who is housebound?

Or maybe invite some unattached friends to join you for a meal today or over the holidays or ANYTIME for that matter.

There are, indeed, ways we can provide “light” to others in ways WE GET TO CONTROL.
